FAQ

Is Nimbus Portraits a photo booth?

A. Not quite — it’s way better.
We bring a real-deal portrait studio to your event, complete with pro lighting, a clean white backdrop, and an actual photographer (hi, that’s us!) who hypes your guests up, helps them pose, and makes sure they leave with a photo they actually like. No filters, no gimmicks, just crisp, editorial-quality portraits.

Will a photographer be present the whole time?

A. Yes! A real-life, professional, fun-as-hell photographer will be on site the entire time, helping guests pose, get comfortable, and walk away with portraits they love. That’s the whole Nimbus magic.

Why are you more expensive than other photo booths?

A. Because this isn’t a plug-it-in-and-leave-it kind of thing.
You’re hiring a professional portrait photographer with top-tier gear, creative direction, live interaction, and on-the-spot delivery. It’s a whole vibe. Guests walk away feeling seen, celebrated, and honestly a little famous — it’s a gift you’re giving them, and that’s why it’s worth it.

What areas do you serve?

A. We’re based in Los Angeles and love working across Southern California — but we’re absolutely down to travel. If you’ve got an event further out (or across the country), send us a message and we’ll make it happen.

When is the best time to shoot portraits?

A. Timing is key! We recommend starting just before the dance floor opens or during the cocktail hour. For Premium Sessions, we’re available during both cocktail hour and post-dinner entertainment to keep the energy going.

What is your payment structure?

A. To lock in your date, we require a non-refundable 50% deposit at booking. The remaining balance is due 14 days before your event.

What space requirements do you have?

A. To create our signature portrait experience, we need a clear space that’s 10 feet wide, 10 feet long, and 10 feet tall against a solid wall—think of it as a 10-foot cube. Ensure the area is free from obstacles, including overhead items like chandeliers.

Do you need power?

A. Yes, please! We require a standard three-prong (grounded) power outlet. We typically bring a 25-foot extension cable; if more length is needed, the client or venue should provide it.

Can the portrait station be outside?

A. Mother Nature can be unpredictable! Our setup is sensitive to weather conditions like rain, wind, and sunlight, so outdoor setups must be fully covered. We’ll assess the feasibility on a case-by-case basis.

Will you need Wifi?

A. Yes, for sessions that include immediate file delivery, we require access to the venue’s Wi-Fi. Please ensure the venue can provide this.

How many guests can participate in the portraits?

A. There’s no hard limit — bring your BFFs, your fam, your whole table!
Nimbus is designed for solos, duos, and small groups, but we’re flexible. Our 10ft setup gives us plenty of room to play, and if your group’s too big for the backdrop alone (a clean white vine!), we’ll adjust and shoot a little wider. Everyone’s getting their moment.

What’s the turnaround time for digital files?

A. Every package includes instant photo delivery — seriously, guests can take a photo and post it before dessert hits the table.
We send cloud-based galleries right to their phones on-site. After your event, you’ll receive a full digital gallery with all the portraits taken, and guests can even order professional prints straight from there.

Can we add extra time during the event?

A. Absolutely! We’ll do our best to accommodate if your guests are loving it and you want to keep the energy going. Additional hours can be added on the spot, pending availability, and will be invoiced after the event.

Can we customize the backdrop or branding?

A. For sure! Our standard is the classic white backdrop (clean, timeless, and flattering), but custom backdrops, branding elements, or event-specific touches can be added for an extra fee. Let’s get creative!

What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule?

A. Life happens! If you need to reschedule, we’ll do our best to accommodate a new date. Your 50% deposit is non-refundable but can be transferred to a future date if rescheduling is done with at least 30 days’ notice.
